Giant hornets

Known to Western media as 'Giant killer hornets', these are found across Japan, and in some prefectures, they are hunted down and collected from their nests. The larvae are simmered in traditional seasonings to make a delicacy that money can't buy, while the adults are steeped in shochu to create a 'medicinal' high-alcohol liquor.
